16. CANINE DETECT
Why choose Canine Detect over technical solutions?
Dogs have an extremely powerful sensory detection suite by virtue of their highly developed senses of smell, hearing and sight. This is augmented by the dog’s natural defense mechanism, agility, size and speed. This detection suite far outstrips other high-tech solutions. The unmatched sensory and physical ability of detection dogs can be used to recognize all types of explosive substances, or can be trained to pinpoint forensic evidence e.g. fi rearms, banknotes, narcotics, tobacco, human remains and stowaways. Dogs are able to search in all types of structures and transportation. They can be trained to meet client needs in all cases. Unlike other technologies, dogs can be quickly recalibrated to detect new threats or substances.
The School´s Expertise
Our Canine training specialists have over 35 years experience gained in the UK and across the globe. They have instructed governments, police and armed forces on canine capability in Australia, Africa, the Far East, Middle East, North and South America and Europe. The school´s canine instructors have globally recognised knowledge of all aspects of the canine detect profession, including the practi cal training of detect dogs, the training of handlers, the design of bespoke handler courses, the management of all aspects of training and the related authorisation and compliance to international regulatory bodies. Our lead expert has commanded the UK’s MOD Canine Training School for 4 years and has formed two very successful Military Working Dog Units which he successfully deployed to operational theatres; for this he was highly decorated by Her Majesty the Queen.
